Learning to Play with Pictures
I've had quite a few kiddo's ask how to make jpegs and manipulate the size so they'll fit across the top of their blog and act as a header. While I use Image composer, which is an archaic program, (if it aint broke, don't fix it :-) I don't know what everyone has at home. I'd love for all the kiddo's to learn Photoshop, but that takes money.
And so when I ran across this little jewel of a freebie I had to share! It's called pixlr.com. It has similar features to Photoshop, and I'd love for the kiddo's to play! Now, you do have to sign up, which basically involves giving them your email and creating a password, but once that's taken care of you can create, layer, and put words on any picture you'd like. Too, some of the tools (such as the lasso, the wand, etc) are the same as Photoshop, so learn this first and when we get to that stage it'll be a breeze!
Now I'm learning this one with you, so I'm no expert. But if you have a questions feel free to post one and I'll see if I can't find the answer. As always, go play, have fun, be fearless, and learn something new!
How to Create Your Own Blog
Hello my Neipchens!
Mrs. Isaacs here, and I wanted to explain how to make your own blog. We can work on the blogs at school, but, unfortunately, the firewall won't let me create blogs, and so below you'll find step-by-step instructions on making your blog.
If you are still confused and need help, bring me your email address and password. I'll take it home, and create a default blog and then we can work on the design of it at school. If you create a blog at home, please make sure that you know your URL, email address, and password so you can get on it at school to change things around. I'm working on a scroll widget with all of your blogs, so we must have a grab button for everyone and all the blogs set up before summer starts! :-)
How to create your own blog:
Make a gmail email address.
Click on the "Create a Blog" button on the top right corner of this blog. There you will be taken to
a page that looks like this:

Writing Rocks! Hits the Publishing World!
Our 4th and 5th grade writing club hit a new high yesterday as we
published our works on Smashwords. Most of the writing, revising,
editing, and basic formatting was done by none other than our amazing
kiddos! I'm so proud of them!

Room One
Have you ever
wanted to solve a real life mystery? Well for Ted Hammond, he finally gets to.
Ted has always loved mysteries, especially mystery books. When the opportunity
comes to finally figure one out, he couldn’t turn away the chance. Ted is a
paperboy and one day he sees a face in the window of the Andersons’s old farm. He
goes to investigate and ends up doing something he never imagined; he meets a
family in need. Will he succeed in helping these people, or will he meet his
own needs instead?
I think that
the book Room One is amazing. Unless you’re reading a book about mysteries, you
can’t really solve a jaw-dropping mystery for real. I like the way that Andrew
Clements details this book. For
example he uses the pencil that Ted finds outside of the Anderson’s old farm
and focuses on the pencil for the rest of the chapter. I
think that this book is a real page turner.
I think this
book is a great thing to read for people who enjoy mysteries with a little
reality. So, if you like mysteries, read Room One, I guarantee you’ll like it.
I give this book 5 paws and recommend it for everyone.

It's All Just Black and White!
My Favorite TV show is Pokémon black and white. It has lots of Pokémon, and there are 3 main characters. Their names are Ash, Iris, and Cilin. They all travel together, but Ash wants to become a Pokémon master and join the Unova League. In order to do that, he has to have all the gym badges. Iris wants to become a dragon master, so she has to train with her dragon Pokémon. Cilan is considered an upper class Pokemon, which is called an A class connoisseur.
I think Pokémon is great because of the imaginary creatures. For example, Zorla is a creature who can transform into other things. It’s my favorite show!
If you are looking for imaginary creatures that love adventure, then Pokemon is for you! I give it four paws!

The Wonderous Walkers!
The Walking Dead is my
favorite T.V show. There is always something up in each episode. This was once
a comic book. This one of a kind T.V show.
It is
about zombies that have invaded the United States. Anyone who gets bit becomes
one. Even the tiniest scratch can turn you into one.
There are only a few
people left, and they found a prison to use as a fortress. A guy by the name of Herschel got bit by a
walker and they had to cut off his leg. He is on crutches and so he will
probably die really soon. His only self-defense is his crutches.
Some people have got kicked out of the group.
They have found shelter and they have a military, hot water and there is a governor.
A girl has left the camp ground and the governor and his friends are out to
kill her. She has already killed all of them except then governor. Now it is a
battle between the governor and the girl. Who will win?
I like this T.V show
because Of all the realistic action. It has fighting that makes it look like
you are there. The walkers look like a real zombie. It also makes it look like
you are there. One reason I like this show is of the action.
I also like this show
‘cause of the length. It is 1 hour. Some shows are only a half hour, and that’s
just not enough time for an action-packed show. That is the perfect length for
this show. I like the length of this show.
Over all I like the show. It is on AMC at 9:00.
If you like mysteries, I would highly
recommend this T.V show. This show kept me on the edge of my seat in every
episode. I give this show five paws.

Dragons are Awesome!
How to
Train your Dragon
is the sixth book in the series. The stories center around a boy named Hiccup
and his friends, Camcazi and Fishlegs. In this story, Hiccup finds an
exterminator, which is a dragon that can breathe fire. Will he be able to stop
the dragon from incinerating everything in sight?
I
really liked this book because it’s funny. For example, one of hiccup’s friends
gets his tush set on fire. Another reason I like this book is because it has a
lot of adventure. Hiccup goes on a voyage to get potatoes. This book was a
great read!
How to Train Your Dragon is a really
funny book, and I’d give it book five paws.
